Dighi (Pune): Dighi Police have registered a case against a car driver for allegedly driving at high speed and negligently, hitting a 61-year-old elderly woman and causing her serious injuries. The incident occurred on December 11, 2025, around 7:00 pm, in the Sai Bazaar, Sai Park Colony area of Dighi.
What Exactly Happened?
According to the information received, the complainant Rahul Hemant Tandale (37, resident of Tandale Heights, Dighi) stated that his mother Vandana Tandale (61) was walking alone to buy vegetables on the evening of December 11. While she was walking on the public road near Sai Bazaar, a speeding car coming from behind (MH 12 WX 9826) hit her forcefully.
Driver Fled After the Accident
The accused driver Pravin Namdev Chavan (45, resident of Sai Park Colony, Dighi) allegedly drove the car rashly and with complete disregard for traffic rules. Due to the impact, Vandana Tandale suffered a fracture to her left ankle and sustained serious injuries. Notably, instead of helping the injured woman, the driver fled the spot with the car after the accident.
Police Action
A case was registered at Dighi Police Station on December 24, 2025. The accused has been booked under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (endangering human life), 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 184, 132(1)(c), and 119/177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is being carried out by Police Sub-Inspector Shingare.
